Ryan Reynolds is in talks to star in a Dragon’s Lair film adaptation
Dragon’s Lair is a video game series that was created by Rick Dyer and Don Bluth. The first game was originally released in 1983 by Cinematronics. It used laserdisc technology and we saw it briefly in Stranger Things.
In the game, you play as Dirk the Daring, a knight attempting to rescue Princess Daphne from the evil dragon Singe who has locked the princess in the foul wizard Mordroc’s castle.
Variety has the news that Ryan Reynolds is in talks to star in and produce a live-action feature adaptation for Netflix.
He is a great fit for the character of Dirk and I wonder whether it will be a straight-up adaptation of the game, or will it involve Dirk and the Dragon escaping from the arcade game into the real world?
Dan and Kevin Hageman (The Lego Movie, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark) writing the script.
Roy Lee will produce through his Vertigo Entertainment with Trevor Engelson of Underground Films. Don Bluth, Gary Goldman and Jon Pomeroy are also producing. Reynolds will produce through his Maximum Effort production company.
