Taika Waititi may direct a Star Wars movie

He has been nominated for an Oscar for Jojo Rabbit and now it seems there is a chance Taika Waititi could be directing a Star Wars movie.

THR is reporting that Waititi has been approached to direct a film, but there is no word on what the current situation is. Disney and Lucasfilm, producers of the Star Wars movies, had no comment.

Waititi did direct the final episode of The Mandalorian (a fantastic how) and also voiced the IG-11 droid so he does have experience in that galaxy far, far away.

I would be very happy to see Waititi bring us a Star Wars film, but I have no idea what I would like it to involve.

However, even if he does go for it that does not actually mean it will come to pass. LucasFilm and Disney seem to have a habit of bringing directors on board only to either switch them out in a Solo stylee or continually postpone or cancel them as happened with Rian Johnson’s planned trilogy and the Benioff and Weiss from Game of Thrones.

If it does happen, what would you like to see in a Waititi directed Star Wars film? All new characters or some of the classic ones?
