Channing Tatum and Roy Lee are working on The Maxx movie or TV show

I love Sam Kieth’s The Maxx. In fact, as I write this, there is an action figure of The Maxx on the left of my desk. The strange surreal cartoon-like art style of Kieth coupled with the dark subject matter told a fantastical tale full of gritty realism and bizarre creatures.

As one of the earliest creators for Image Comics, Kieth created The Maxx ― a homeless superhero who lives in a box. Both Maxx and his social worker friend, Julie, share adventures in both the real world and in “the Outback,” a fantasy realm inhabited by their jungle-inspired totems.

The comic book was also turned into a cartoon series for the MTV program Oddities which wan an Annie Award for best animated series. Kieth also worked on Batman/The Maxx: Arkham Dreams, a five-issue miniseries.

THR is reporting that Channing Tatum and Roy Lee are working together to bring The Maxx back although it is not clear whether this would be for film or TV. I feel TV may be a better fit to give the story a chance to build.

Tatum will produce via Free Association, along with principals Reid Carolin and Peter Kiernan, while Lee will produce via his Vertigo Entertainment.

What would you like to see in a film or TV show based on The Maxx? Would it work as live-action?
