Colin Farrell and Andy Serkis are in talks to join The Batman
Matt Reeves’ The Batman already has Robert Pattinson as Batman, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon, Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as The Riddler.
We now have word that Andy Serkis (The Lord of the Rings, Rise of the Planet of the Apes) is in talks to play Alfred Pennyworth according to The Wrap. That kind of fits with the version of Alfred played by Sean Pertwee in the Gotham TV show.
Then Deadline says that Colin Farrell is in talks to play The Penguin. Farrell has already played a comic book villain when he was Bullseye going up against Ben Affleck’s Daredevil.
I like both actors but could picture them in either role, to be honest.
Reeves has said that the film will include a rogues gallery of Batman’s villains and focus more on the Dark Knight’s detective skills. Therefore, I think that, while we are getting lots of villains in the film they will probably just have one or two scenes as Batman makes his way through a mystery. Kind of like the Hush comic book story.
