Starz brought American Gods and Outlander to NYCC 2018
To tease season two of American Gods, Starz brought one of the show’s central locations, the Motel America Diner, to New York Comic Con. The diner recreated everything from the iconic Motel America sign to the branded placemats that line the tables.
Featuring numerous photos ops and Easter eggs, the Motel America Diner was right next door to a log cabin to promote Outlander.
As usual with these experiences, there were many things to look at, including a photo opportunity that Mike and I took full advantage of.
AMERICAN GODS is a one-hour drama adapted from Neil Gaiman’s novel of the same name.
Following the epic showdown at Easter’s party, Season Two ups the ante with Mr. Wednesday continuing his quest to pitch the case for war to the Old Gods with Shadow, Laura and Mad Sweeney in tow. But when things don’t go as planned at the House on the Rock, they all find themselves on a haunting journey through middle America.
A classic American Diner and then back in time for the Outlander cabin experience.
Welcome to Fraser’s Ridge. Working with artisans and brands from the era, the Starz “Outlander” cabin experience featured two apprentice-style workbenches where fans could customize a leather item as well as receive a natural healing elixir inspired by the show. Brand experts talked about the process and authenticity that went into bringing to life the historic details from colonial America.
STARZ partnered with historic fragrance and beauty brand, Caswell-Massey (est. 1752), to curate a collection of the historically accurate products to offer fans as a unique, show-inspired takeaway.
I picked up a small bottle of cologne, the very same scent that George Washington used.
The Fraser clan try to make a new home in colonial North Carolina this season, as Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan) must negotiate a tenuous loyalty to the current British ruling class–despite Claire’s knowledge of the American Revolution to come. Meanwhile in the 20th century, a shocking discovery makes Claire and Jamie’s daughter Brianna (Sophie Skelton) and her would-be love interest, historian Roger Wakefield (Richard Rankin), consider following in Claire’s time-traveling footsteps.
The new season of Outlander premieres on 4th November 2018 at 8pm ET/PT on Starz. American Gods returns at some point in 2019.
