S.J. Clarkson will direct the next Star Trek movie and Chris Hemsworth will return
It seems that the Quentin Tarantino written Star Trek movie won’t be the next one in the series. Instead, the fourth film will be directed by S.J. Clarkson (Dexter, Jessica Jones, Orange Is The New Black) who will be the first female director of a Star Trek movie. Paramount announced the news at CinemaCon in Las Vegas.
Plot details are scarce, but it sounds like there will be more time travel shenanigans involved as Chris Hemsworth (Thor) is back to play Captain Kirk’s father. We last saw him in the emotional opening of the 2009 Star Trek film. Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto will be returning and I assume many of the other main cast members will also be back.J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay wrote the screenplay. J.J. Abrams and Lindsey Weber will produce through Bad Robot Productions, while David Ellison and Dana Goldberg of Skydance Media will executive produce.
What would you like to see in the new film?
The studio is still working on the Tarantino film and it will arrive after this fourth movie.
