The Random: Jessica Chastain, L.A. Confidential TV show, Elasti-Girl, Dungeons & Dragons, James Bond, Sharknado 6 and more
– Jessica Chastain is in negotiations to star in New Line’s It sequel as the adult version of Beverly, sources tell Variety. Director Andy Muschietti is back to direct. Gary Dauberman will write the script. Beverly was played by Sophia Lillis in the 2017 horror hit. Personally, I feel Amy Adams would be a better fit for the role especially as Amy and Sophia do look alike.
– Lauren Cohan, who has starred as Maggie since season two of AMC’s The Walking Dead, has booked a lead role in ABC drama pilot Whiskey Cavalier. Sources tell THR that she has been actively looking for her next role as she battles AMC over her season nine salary. With Walking Dead already renewed for a ninth season, Cohan does not have a deal in place to return to the show. Whiskey Cavalier, starring Scandal’s Scott Foley, is described as a high-octane hourlong action dramedy that follows the adventures of tough but tender FBI super agent Will Chase (codename: “Whiskey Cavalier”) who, following an emotional breakup, is assigned to work with badass CIA operative Francesca “Frankie” Trowbridge (codename: “Fiery Tribune”). Together, they lead an interagency team of flawed, funny, heroic spies who periodically save the world (and each other) while navigating the rocky roads of friendship, romance and office politics.
– Chris McKay (The Lego Batman Movie) is in negotiations to direct Dungeons & Dragons for Paramount Pictures. Michael Gillio will be writingthe script. Hasbro’s Brian Goldner and Stephen Davis are producing – Variety
– April Bowlby (Drop Dead Diva) has been cast as Rita Farr, aka Elasti-Girl, on Titans, according to EW. Farr is an actress exposed to toxic gas that changes her cellular structure. She can expand and shrink her body and in the comics, ends up in The Doom Patrol. The live-action series, which will premiere on DC’s streaming service, will feature The Doom Patrol, according to DC Entertainment CCO Geoff Johns.

– With Daniel Craig already on board to return as 007, MGM and Eon are looking to hire a director for the next installment of the James Bond franchise. High on their list is “Slumdog Millionaire” director Danny Boyle, though sources tell Variety that no formal offer has yet been made.
– Marvel TV revealed that Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur (working title) is in development. Based on the hit comic book series, the animated project follows the adventures of nine-year-old super-genius Lunella Lafayette, an African-America girl who teams up with her crimson-colored dinosaur and uses her smarts to save the day. Lunella, A.K.A. Moon Girl, was created by Brandon Montclare, Amy Reeder, and Natacha Bustos in 2015—and the world’s smartest person hasn’t looked back since!
– CBS has cast Walton Goggins (upcoming Tomb Raider, Justified, The Shield) in the upcoming pilot based on James Ellroy’s 1990 noir novel L.A. Confidential. Goggins will play Detective Jack Vincennes, who is described as follows: “All swagger and flash with a movie star smile, Jack knows how the system works and uses it to his best advantage, including some corrupt shakedowns on the side.” The character was previously played by Kevin Spacey in the previous movie – ComingSoon
– Sabrina the Teenage Witch series has cast the two aunts who will star with Kiernan Shipka. Lucy Davis (Wonder Woman) has been tapped to play Hilda Spellman. Miranda Otto (The Lord of the Rings) has been cast as Zelda Spellman, Sabrina’s sterner witch aunt. Proud and devout, Zelda believes there is no greater honour than serving the Dark Lord as a member of the Church of Night. She is the family’s disciplinarian, fiercely protective of Sabrina, and very much Cain to aunt Hilda’s Abel.
– Walt Disney Studios has found a director for its live-action reimagining of Pinocchio. Paul King, helmer of the Paddington movies, has been chosen to direct the movie, with the studio hoping to being production in the autumn.
– Sharknado 6 is heading our way and has the following synopsis, which sounds even crazier than the previous films! – All is lost, or is it? Fin unlocks the time-traveling power of the SHARKNADOS in order to save the world and resurrect his family. In his quest, Fin fights Nazis, dinosaurs, knights, and even takes a ride on Noah’s Ark. This time, it’s not how to stop the sharknados, it’s when. Sharknado 6 will premiere on July 25, 2018.
