Margot Robbie, Ruby Rose, Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe and more feature in the new Dundee trailer
Danny McBride is playing the son of Paul Hogan’s character, Crocodile Dundee, from the 1986 film.
The new film is called Dundee: The Son of a Legend Returns Home and Australia’s Brisbane Times reported that the whole thing is an elaborate publicity stunt by Tourism Australia, set to air during next month’s NFL Super Bowl. The film’s listed director Steve Rogers is an award-winning commercial director with Sydney-based agency Revolver, who’s produced ads for Nike, Old Spice and Audi, among others.
However, they have got quite a cast put together – Chris Hemsworth, Margot Robbie, Isla Fisher, Liam Hemsworth, Hugh Jackman, Ruby Rose, Russell Crowe – and it is shaping up to be more of a short film at the very least.
Here is the plot synopsis:
Crocodile Dundee is back. Well, actually he’s missing in the Outback. And the only person who might be able to find him is the loudmouthed American son no one knew he had. Introducing Danny McBride as Brian Dundee. This son of a legend is forced to channel his Aussie roots as he embarks on the ultimate adventure in the land down under.
It’s time to live up to the family name.
Chris Hemsworth is playing Wally Jr., the son of Dundee’s business partner Walter “Wally” Reilly. He was played by John Meillon in the first two films. The Dundee website talks about Wally and says, “this expert outdoorsman prides himself on knowing all the is to know about the land down under. But even he will have his hands full keeping his new American friend out of trouble.”
