Video Essay: The Stillness of Twin Peaks
“We are like the dreamer who dreams, and then lives inside the dream… but who is the dreamer?”
The third season of Twin Peaks came to a close on Sunday. It ended how I expected to – lots of unanswered questions, strange happenings and pure horror. I was not disappointed and I loved every moment of it. I will also be thinking about it for a long time.
David Lynch and Mark Frost did amazing things.
Fandor put together this great video essay looks at the use of quiet, still scenes in the prequel Fire Walk With Me and Twin Peaks: The Return to demonstrate Lynch’s fascination with extending the moments other filmmakers wouldn’t think to linger on for more than a few seconds.
