Mark Waid’s Irredeemable is heading to the big screen
You know how in Man of Steel and Batman v Superman we had a darker, more brooding Superman? Well, crank that all the way up to 11, throw in a pinch of paranoia and a whole heap of crazy and you have Irredeemable.
It is a great take on the superhero myth by Mark Millar & Peter Krause. It looks at what happens when a hero, with the powers of a Superman, goes crazy and takes over the world.
When the Plutonian, the world’s greatest superhero, snaps and turns into the world’s greatest villain, only his former teammates have a chance at stopping his rampage. But while on the run from the world’s most powerful and angry being, will these former teammates discover his secrets in time? How did he come to this? What became of the hope and promise once inside him? What happens to the world when its savior betrays it? What makes a hero irredeemable?
20th Century Fox have picked up the rights to the Boom! Comics comic book. Tommy Wirkola (Dead Snow) is adapting it for the screen while Adam McKay (Ant-Man, The Big Short) is set to direct.
There is a huge amount of potential for this one and, if they go all out, it could have some amazing visuals.
So who would you like to see play the Plutonian?
