Hawkeye

Variety has news that Hailee Steinfeld (Bumblebee, True Grit) has been offered a lead role in the upcoming Hawkeye series at Disney Plus.

The limited series will see Jeremy Renner reprise the role of the titular bow-wielding hero, Clint Barton. Steinfeld would play Kate Bishop if she joins the show. Bishop is a Marvel Comics character who took up the Hawkeye mantle. She is also a member of the group known as the Young Avengers. It was reported last week that Jonathan Igla is attached to write and executive produce the series.

With recent talk that characters such as America Chavez and Wiccan cropping up in various Marvel TV shows, it would seem logical that we may be seeing the Young Avengers appear further down the line.

Tank Girl

According to Tank Girl’s co-creator Alan Martin, Margot Robbie’s production company has optioned the film rights to the character.

Die In A Gunfight

Travis Fimmel (Vikings) has joined Culmination’s Die in a Gunfight alongside previously announced Olivia Munn (who is in talks), Alexandra Daddario, Helen Hunt and Diego Boneta.

The film follows a young man (Boneta) who falls for the daughter (Daddario) of his father’s nemesis in New York City. Fimmel will play a lovesick Texan hitman hell-bent on revenge.

Die in a Gunfight is directed by Collin Schiffli, and written by Ant-Man and the Wasp scribe duo Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari.

Dark Shadows

The CW and Warner Bros Television have made a deal to develop Dark Shadows: Reincarnation, an hourlong gothic horror drama based on the 1966 Dan Curtis-created cult classic TV soap opera. The pilot will be written by Mark B. Perry, whose credits include Revenge, Ghost Whisperer and Brothers & Sisters. He will be exec producer along with Amasia Entertainment’s Michael Helfant, Bradley Gallo and Tracy Mercer, along with Tracy Curtis and Cathy Curtis.

The re-imagined show will be a modern-day continuation of the strange, terrifying, and sexy saga of the Collins family of Collinsport, Maine — a mysterious, influential, publicity-shy group hiding a ghastly secret: For the past 400 years, they’ve lived under a curse that bedevils their blue blood with every imaginable supernatural creature and horror – Deadline

Face/Off

Paramount Pictures is working on a reboot of John Woo’s 1997 Face/Off. The original starred John Travolta and Nicolas Cage. The studio will reboot the film, with new cast. Oren Uziel has been set to write the script, and Neal Moritz will produce and David Permut will be executive producer – Deadline

Major Matt Mason

Tom Hanks is set to star in a feature film based on a Mattel action figure from the 1960s called Major Matt Mason. The film is set up at Paramount Pictures.

Major Matt Mason is an astronaut who lives and works on the moon.

Screenwriter Akiva Goldsman, who previously worked with Hanks on “The Da Vinci Code” and “Angels & Demons,” will adapt the script from a short story about the character from Pulitzer Prize winner Michael Chabon. Mattel Films is co-producing with the studio – Variety

Dirty John

USA Network announced that Amanda Peet (“The Romanoffs”) and Christian Slater (MR. ROBOT) will star in the second season of anthology series DIRTY JOHN, titled DIRTY JOHN: THE BETTY BRODERICK STORY. This second installment will be based on another epic true tale of love gone wrong — a story that spans the 1960s to the ’80s, through the breakdown of a marriage that Oprah deemed one of “America’s messiest divorces” even before it ended in double homicide.

Peet will play Betty Broderick, the perfect Southern California blonde wife and mother. Married to her handsome college boyfriend Dan, played by Slater, Betty charms everyone she meets. After years of sacrifice and suffering while supporting Dan through both medical and law school until he exploded into the San Diego legal community as a superstar, Betty is finally enjoying the fruits of their labours. That is, until Dan hires Linda, a bright, beautiful young woman without baggage with whom he can happily forget the struggles of his past. Betty’s attempts to fight back and enraged refusals to accept reality only serve to isolate and destabilize her until she loses her very identity. And Dan’s cold confidence blinds him to the bear he has created, and won’t stop poking … until it’s too late.
