Ben Wheatley will direct the Tomb Raider sequel

Ben Wheatley will direct the sequel to Tomb Raider starring Alicia Vikander, according to The Wrap.

Wheatley directed Kill List, Free Fire and High Rise. I am a big fan of his and, while I am surprised to see him taking on Tomb Raider, I am excited to see what he will do with it.

The 2018 reboot was directed by Roar Uthaug and grossed $274.6 million worldwide.

Production is expected to begin early next year on the sequel, and Amy Jump, who also wrote Wheatley’s “Free Fire” and “High-Rise,” is lined up to write the script that will be produced by Graham King through his GK Films banner.

There is no word on the plot at the moment, but I imagine there will be tombs and raiding of the aforementioned tombs!
