Blake’s 7 star Jacqueline Pearce has passed away
Jacqueline Pearce has died at the age of 74 at her home in Lancashire. She had recently been diagnosed with lung cancer.
She was best known for playing Supreme Commander Servalan in Blake’s 7. The villainous role was expanded from a single episode to carry on throughout the four series as she was just so damn good in the role.
Her friend John Ainsworth said:
She liked a glass of champagne and liked everyone to have a good time with her, and of course she was a brilliant actress and everyone who worked with her remembered her very fondly.
Alongside her role in Blake’s 7, which was expanded from a single episode to a regular role over four series due to her popularity, Pearce was also known for her guest role as Chessene in The Two Doctors episodes of Doctor Who in 1985, opposite Colin Baker’s version of the Time Lord.
After training at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts alongside Anthony Hopkins and John Hurt, she appeared in episodes of Danger Man, The Avengers, Moondial and Dark Season. She also played Chessene in The Two Doctors episodes of Doctor Who in 1985, opposite Colin Baker.
Her film roles included White Mischief, How to Get Ahead in Advertising and Princess Caraboo.
She was iconic and she will be missed.
