– Outlander’s Sam Heughan is set to join Vin Diesel in Bloodshot for Sony Pictures. The adaptation of the Valiant comic book starts production in July with Dave Wilson directing and Neal H. Moritz producing. The film is casting up quickly, with Eiza Gonzalez and Michael Sheen also coming aboard – Deadline
– Idris Elba will star, direct and produce a modern retelling of Victor Hugo’s Hunchback of Notre Dame for Netflix. The feature film will be a sonic and musical experience for which Elba will also produce the music.
– Netflix is reteaming with Dee Rees (Mudbound) for The Last Thing He Wanted. The film is an adaptation of the Joan Didion book of the same name and it will star Anne Hathaway. Principal photography is expected to begin this summer. The story centers on a hardscrabble journalist named Elena McMahon (Hathaway), who inherits her father’s position as a dealmaker — an arms dealmaker. – Warner Bros. has announced a few new release dates for three of their big upcoming films. Mike Flanagan’s sequel to Stephen King’s The Shining, Doctor Sleep, will be released on January 24th, 2020. Mike Daugherty’s Godzilla 2 will be released on May 31st, 2019 and Mark Wahlberg’s The Six Billion Dollar Man will be released on June 5th, 2020.
– There is a rumour going around that The Joker spin-off project from DC Films that is supposedly staring Joaquim Phoenix may have Robert De Niro as Carmine Falcone, while Bradley Cooper could be playing Harvey Dent, aka Two-Face. Take that with a grain of salt.
– Director Dan Trachtenberg shared the news that filming has begun on The Boys. The new Amazon series is based on the comic book by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. The series is set in a world where superheroes exist. However, most of the superheroes in the series’ universe are corrupted by their celebrity status and often engage in reckless behaviour, compromising the safety of the world. For this reason, a superpowered CIA squad, known informally as “The Boys”, is charged with monitoring the superhero community; the name is Butcher’s contribution, a reference from his neighbourhood that those in power would send “the boys” to handle anyone causing trouble.
– Liam Neeson is in negotiations to join Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson in Sony’s Men in Black spinoff. Neeson will play the head of the UK branch of the agency – Variety
– Paramount’s Dexter Fletcher directed Elton John biopic Rocketman has got a release date for 17th May 2019. The film stars Taron Egerton as the iconic singer with Matthew Vaughn producing.

– Michelle Wolf is a Strong Female Lead in a new promo for The Break With Michelle Wolf.
– Warner Bros. Pictures has picked up the film rights to Peter Kornbluh’s Politico article, My Dearest Fidel: A Journalist’s Secret Liaison with Fidel Castro for the studio’s former marketing-distribution boss-turned-producer to shepherd at her Kroll & Co. Entertainment. Sue Kroll has partnered with Gal Gadot and husband Jaron Varsano to develop the material – Deadline

– Paramount has removed Transformers 7 from its release schedule.
– George R.R. Martin’s children’s fantasy novel, The Ice Dragon, has been picked up by Warner Animation Group to be adapted for the big screen, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. The writer will be actively involved with the project, acting as a producer. The story centers on Adara, a young girl who makes a special connection with a feared and mythic ice dragon. When another breed of dragon flies in to destroy her world, the girl and dragon must find a way to stop the invaders.
– Utkarsh Ambudkar (Brockmire) and Ron Yuan (Marco Polo) have joined the cast of Disney’s live-action Mulan. Ambudkar will play a con artist named Skath, Yuan will play Sergeant Qiang, second in command of the Imperial Regiment.
– Jay Ryan has been cast as the adult version of Ben Hanscom in New Line Cinema’s It: Chapter 2. The younger version of this character was played by actor Jeremy Ray Taylor in It.
