The Random: John Cena as Duke Nukem, What We Do In The Shadows reboot, Clue, Cloverfield, Snowpiercer and more
– John Cena is in talks to star in Paramount’s Duke Nukem movie, a big-screen version of the long-running video game franchise. The project is set up at Paramount-based Platinum Dunes, which is operated by Michael Bay, Andrew Form, and Brad Fuller. No director or writer is attached yet. Duke Nukem first appeared in the 1991 eponymous video game, developed by Apogee Software, as a muscular cigar-chomping man who always wears Ray-Bans and sports a flat-top haircut as he fights aliens to save planet Earth by using enormous physical strength and his expertise in firearms. He’s appeared in 19 video games as the title character – Variety
– A reboot of What We Do in the Shadows is heading to the small screen. FX has given a formal pilot order to a half-hour comedy based on the 2014 mockumentary horror film co-written, co-directed by and starring Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi. Clement is attached as writer and executive producer on TV adaptation, and Waititi will direct and executive produce. Kayvan Novak, Matt Berry, Natasia Demetriou, Harvey Guillen are set to star in the pilot. Novak will play Nandor, the head vampire of the house. Berry plays Lazslo, the goofiest in the house, the type of vampire who turns into a bat and flies into a wall. Demetriou plays Nadja, the badass female vampire of the house. Guillen is believed to play Nandor’s assistant – Deadline
– Paramount Pictures recently began viral promotion (via the Tagruato homepage) for the untitled third Cloverfield movie (previously known as God Particle), which will be released on 20th April 2018. Various people on the Internet have done some digging and thing the title will be Cloverfield Station. FX lighting artist named Rui (Ray) Xu on Linkedin had listed “Cloverfield Station” among his credits. The plot is said to revolve around an American space station that, after an accident with a particle accelerator, suddenly finds that Earth has vanished altogether. Things get stranger when they then pick up traces of another space station nearby. It stars David Oyelowo, John Ortiz, Elizabeth Debicki, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Chris O’Dowd, Ziyi Zhang and Daniel Bruhl.

– TNT has parted ways with Josh Friedman, the showrunner of the TV adaptation of Snowpiercer. Friedman was an executive producer on the project and wrote the pilot, which was shot last year. “Snowpiercer” was ordered to series by TNT earlier this month. – Fox has made a three-year first look deal with Ryan Reynolds’ Maximum Effort to hatch projects for the studio. They’ve got the first picture that Reynolds will produce under the new deal. It is a live-action film based on the Hasbro board game Clue, with Maximum Effort producing along with Allspark Pictures, the film division of Hasbro. The film will be developed as a star vehicle for Reynolds – Deadline
– Marta Milans has joined the growing cast of New Line’s forthcoming superhero pic Shazam! She joins Zachary Levi, who will play the titular role in the David F. Sandberg-directed adaptation of the classic character from DC Comics. Milans will play one of the foster parents at the home where Billy Batson lives – Deadline
