– Karl Urban was asked about whether he would play Judge Dredd in the Mega-City One TV show. This is what he said, “I’ve had many discussions with them [Rebellion] about my involvement, of which I am interested, and I said to them, ‘Listen, if you write a character that has a function and a purpose and contributes to the overall story, then I might be very interested in reprising that role.’ I certainly wouldn’t want to step into it and just pay lip service to the movie. There has to be some material there that warrants further exploration of that character. So the ball’s in their court.” – ScreenRant

– More than a year after CBS passed on its Sarah Shahi-fronted Nancy Drew, NBC is teaming with Tony Phelan and Joan Rater to redevelop the drama. The project, which is in development, has an entirely new logline at CBS despite hailing from the same producing team and studio (CBS Television Studios) – “When the author of the most famous female teen detective series is thrust into a real-life murder mystery, who does she turn to for help? Her two best friends from childhood, who were the inspiration for all those books, and the women who have a real ax to grind about the way their supposed best friend chose to portray them all those years ago.” – THR

– NBC is teaming with Imagine TV to reboot the 2002 surf movie Blue Crush. The drama, which is in development, is being written by Hannah Schneider (Reign), who will executive produce the Universal Television drama alongside Imagine’s Brian Grazer and Francie Calfo. Jillian Kugler will oversee for Imagine. As in the feature — which spawned a direct-to-video sequel — the NBC take tells the story of female empowerment and ambition in the world of Hawaii’s North Shore. In the wake of a tragic accident, a surfer works to revive her career and bring pride to a local community threatened by commercialism and dangerous surf politics. Even in paradise, you never know what chaos is brewing inside the barrel – THR
