The Princess Bride is heading back to cinemas for its 30th Anniversary

The star-studded cult fairytale The Princess Bride is 30 this year! It is such a good movie and so much fun to watch.

To celebrate the anniversary the film will be back in cinemas for one day only – 23rd October – 300 screens nationwide, so that fans can enjoy the tongue-in-cheek swashbuckling love story on the big screen. It will be great to see it in a cinema with an appreciative audience.

When the beautiful maiden Buttercup (Robin Wright) hears that her true love Westley (Cary Elwes) is dead, she reluctantly agrees to marry the loathsome Prince Humperdinck (Chris Sarandon). After Westley returns to rescue Buttercup, the two begin an epic adventure filled with fencing, fighting, giants, monsters, miracles, true love and hilarity!

Also available the same day the DVD/Blu-ray will be released with plenty of extras and new artwork and original theatrical poster. I have just been sent a review copy of the Blu-ray and it has got over 141 minutes of extras – including featurettes, cast interviews, audio commentaries, the original comprehensive documentary “As You Wish: The Story of the Princess Bride” plus galleries and trailers.

Directed by Rob Reiner, the film stars Robin Wright, Cary Elwes, Mandy Patinkin, Andre the Giant, Chris Sarandon, Christopher Guest, Wallace Shawn, Billy Crystal, Carol Kane, Fred Savage, and Peter Falk.
