Alien Nation is getting a new film
Time to open up a carton of sour milk and celebrate as a new version of Alien Nation is in the works. Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, who both worked on the Iron Man film, are writing the script.
The original film followed the assimilation of the Newcomers, an alien race settling in Los Angeles, much to the dismay of the local population. The plot integrates the buddy cop film genre with a science fiction theme, centering on a union between a veteran police detective Matthew Sykes and Sam “George” Francisco, the first Newcomer detective. Sykes and Francisco probe the criminal underworld of the Newcomers as they attempt to solve a homicide.
I loved the original 1988 movie with James Caan and Mandy Patinkin. The subsequent TV show had its moments, but it will be good to see what they do in a new film.
The plan is for this new film to be the first in a series. Not much is known about the plot apart from the fact the first film will begin by telling how and why the aliens came to Earth.
It is also still very early days for the film as there is no producer or director attached at the moment.
I am looking forward to this. How do you feel about a new Alien Nation?
